Rolling Thunder® Raceway (RTR) is
charging on towards its second season
of top class Speedway competition with
the exciting announcement of the
Sprintcar Thunder ™ Series and a
spectacular mix of competitor classes
including Sprintcars, Midgets, AMCA
Nationals and the home grown Marsh
Modifieds amongst other yet to be
confirmed classes.
With
the new season fast approaching the
time is right to announce RTR’s
planned season and the details of the
new Sprintcar Thunder Series.
Racing
will resume at the big Bacchus Marsh
venue with the first round of the
Sprintcar Thunder Series kicking off
on 11th November. The
Sprintcar Thunder Series is open to
all SCCA 360ci Sprintcars including
Sprintcars that comply with the
American ASCS/USCS engine
specifications. This exciting new
series will be inaugurated with the
winner taking home a huge $2000, 2nd
$1000 and 3rd $800 in prize money.
Every eligible Sprintcar that competes
on the night will be guaranteed a
minimum of $400 start money.
“The ASCS sprintcars in the USA have
enormous support and with many leading
speedway journalists, officials and
team owners openly stating that this
is the way to go in Australia, I have
decided to promote the class by
introducing a series this year”
Stated
RTR promoter Ray Solomon. “I
think that now that the 410’s have
been adopted nationally, the next
logical step was to see the ASCS 360
specifications introduced into
Australia also.”
“I will be looking to promote even
bigger events in future seasons and
will also be looking at ways of
encouraging top Australian and USA
driver to compete in the Sprintcar
Thunder Series”.
Solomon continued.
The
Sprintcar Thunder Series will be run
over 5 rounds at Rolling Thunder
Raceway with a possible round at
Redline Speedway in February 2007. Top
local Ian Lewis will be competing in
the series and it is hoped that the
likes of Americans Travis Rilat and
Brad Sweet can both be brought out for
selected events.
Other
rounds of the series at RTR will be on
the 9th December, 3rd
January, 20th January, 24th
February, 14th April and
will see a minimum of $1000 first
prize and a minimum of $300 per car.
Further details of the series will be
released on Rolling thunder raceway
website.
So
that future information regarding the
series can be emailed directly to
owners, drivers and supporters, all
interested parties are invited to send
an email to
ray@formula-motorsports.com to
register their interest and be placed
on the RTR distribution list.
Open
sprintcar events are also being
planned at RTR, details of these will
also be released on the RTR website.
The
mighty Speedcars will return again to
RTR this season on December 9th
and March 17. This class has been
growing in strength in recent years
and the racing has been close and
spectacular.
The
crowd pleasing AMCA Nationals will
again be running at RTR on the 11th
November, and then again on December 9
and February 24th. Indications are
that the car count will bigger than
last season and the competition is
guaranteed to be fierce between some
traditional rivals and the new-comers
to the class. Watch out for some
great action from the AMCA Nationals.
Marsh
Modifieds will again strut their stuff
on the 3rd and the 20th
of January.
The
Bacchus Marsh Speedway was the
birthplace of the Marsh Modified's
back in 1999 when they were known as
Super 6’s. Now the class has in excess
of 22 very competitive cars.
Further dates and classes will be
announced as soon as possible and
posted on the RTR website.
